12. December 2024 Berlin, Siemensstadt Square

Everything in flux: of construction cranes, excavators and blue pipes

Following the official laying of the foundation stone in June, construction work in the future entrance area of Siemensstadt Square is now in full swing. An atrium building and an information pavilion will be built here by the end of 2026. A 60-meter high-rise building will be built in parallel by 2027.

The first construction measures, the excavation of the building pit for the high-rise and atrium building, the first cranes making their rounds, the excavators and construction vehicles in action and much more are already evident: The major Berlin project Siemensstadt Square has moved from the planning phase to the realization phase.

Unmissable: The blue pipes along the pipe dam. Over a distance of almost one kilometer, the groundwater is circulated and discharged into the Spree.

Water on! One of the biggest challenges is the groundwater in Siemensstadt. To prevent the excavation pit from filling up, it has to be lowered by around two meters below the groundwater level for the next few months - currently the largest measure of its kind in Berlin. The water will not be lost. It will be returned to the cycle and circulated over a distance of almost one kilometer through pipes along the pipe embankment and discharged into the Spree.
